Investing boom in polish Special Economic Zones

In recent three quarters companies have declared investments for 4.4 billion PLN, which is two third more than last year. Uncertainty in economy will stop new projects in next year. Even now companies are more careful when creating new jobs.

According to information collected by “Rzeczpospolita” newspaper, amount of declared in SEZes financial resources is 4.37 billion PLN. Now in half of Special Economic Zones is planned bigger spending than in whole last year. Forecast for next three months are looking well- at least four Zones expect that value of already signed contracts will break billion zlotys level before the end of 2011.


So far, the leader is Kostrzyn- Slubice Zone- it has over billion zlotys. Walbrzych SEZ has brought in 11 investments for over 800 million PLN. Nearly 600 million has been declared in Katowice Zone, 520 million in Lodz. A huge jump has been made in Suwalki Zone- last year it had two project for 12 million. This year it had declared those for 120 million.

“It is a great year for Zones” admits the president of Tarnobrzeg’s Unit of Industrial Development Marek Indyk. Large companies have perked up - like Pilkington, which declared in Tarnobrzg’s Zone a quarter-billion second car production plant.
